How can I apply for anticipatory bail?

A person who reasonably apprehends arrest for a non-bailable offence may apply for anticipatory bail before the Sessions Court or the High Court under Section 482 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023.

The application should set out the facts of the case, the reasons for apprehending arrest, and the grounds for seeking protection. After hearing both the applicant and the prosecution, the court may grant anticipatory bail subject to conditions, such as cooperating with the investigation and appearing before the investigating officer when required.

Anticipatory bail protects a person from arrest, but it does not prevent the investigation or trial from continuing in accordance with law.
